Apple could ditch '3D Touch' in 6.1-inch LCD iPhone this year

Apple could ditch '3D Touch' in 6.1-inch LCD iPhone this year

In the first full quarter's sales of a radical new iPhone, investors were hoping to see a substantial boost in sales rather than a marginal one. The results should also provide clues on the company's next strategy for its most-important product. "This would imply Apple repurchases $210 billion in shares and pays $52 billion in dividends over the next three years", it said recently. Other two model should have the 3D touch as they are OLED models using the same display technology. Since then, a series of analysts have slashed their estimates for iPhone shipments. That would be the new iPhone X and iPhone X Plus. Still, he warned that the days of 15-per-cent annual iPhone growth are over.

The iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X are less than a year old but it appears that Apple has plans to provide more options for 2018. With high launch prices and a handful of proprietary accessories, Apple must not alienate the mass market by becoming too expensive to buy. That could bring the price close to $700, a level that's proven successful for many years.

In a note obtained by TheFly.com, Bernstein analyst A.M. Sacconaghi Jr highlights the "striking" similarities between the current iPhone X and 8 cycle and the iPhone 6s cycle - another hard period for phone sales. It will however retain the Touch IDbutton according to recent leaks.

A record-breaking expansion to Apple's capital returns scheme, set to be announced alongside its latest quarterly earnings this week, could help win over investors who have become preoccupied by concerns of a global slowdown in smartphone sales. Do you want to see it on future iPhones? The average selling price for iPhones will be $740 in the fiscal second quarter and $691 in the third, according to average analyst projections. In addition to this, Kuo also covered Apple as part of Concord Securities in 2011.

While it is expected for now that the CGS process will only be present in the LCD variant of the iPhone this year, the 2019 models, including those using OLED, will have the same display feature.

The bigger question now is whether Apple can keep ramping up revenue from other sources, most importantly its services division.
