Mourinho: I expect Pogba to stay

The fact that Mourinho is reportedly willing to let Anthony Martial leave the club if he can get his hands on the soon-to-be 30-year-old speaks volumes for what the Man Utd manager is looking to add to his squad.

Meanwhile, reports filtering the media in England claim that the youngster is becoming heavily unhappy at Old Trafford over the lack of enough playing time at the club, which has made him to hold off on signing a new deal.

And Spanish outlet Don Balon say Pogba's anger with Mourinho stems from the 54-year-old's interest in Real playmaker Kroos.

Manager Mourinho was bothered by the number game, saying "How many points separate us from Manchester City?". A lot of points. 'What does he need to do to impress me?

Mourinho admitted that his squad needs improvement in the off-season both in terms of quality from the transfer market but also from within in terms of mentality.

"I trust some more than others to bridge that gap".

Red Devils fans will likely be pleased at this indication that two young, risky attacking players are in the manager's plans for the cup final as they haven't always been regulars throughout 2017/18.

"You don't learn that by watching other people play".

"Unless there is a ideal squad, where you buy one goalkeeper you don't like then you buy another one". You buy a central defender you don't like, you buy another one.

However, Mourinho revealed there are players in his squad he does not believe are up to United standards but who he accepts will be staying.

"I think he's going to be here next season", Mourinho told reporters. That's normal. I know the players.

However, there is one final chance for Mourinho to save the season - by beating his former club Chelsea in the FA Cup final.

'When you lose against all the teams that were promoted, it doesn't smell right to me, ' he said. In this moment for me, he's staying, yes'.

"I am not afraid to play against the big teams and I respect the small teams, and I prepare a match against a big team in the same way I prepare a match against a small team".
