Phoenix Suns Win Number 1 Overall Pick In 2018 NBA Draft

Boston came into draft lottery on Tuesday night with a 2.9 percent chance of moving up to two or three with the Lakers' pick acquired in the 76ers trade.

"It's a historic day for the franchise", Suns general manager Ryan McDonough said while clutching the No. 1 envelope that the Suns logo appeared from to win the first pick.

Jonathan Givony of ESPN listed him as the favorite to go No. 1 overall, but noted Slovenian guard Luka Doncic remains a quality option as Ayton is "not a done deal".

National Basketball Association deputy commissioner Mark Tatum, left, congratulates Phoenix Suns forward Josh Jackson after the Arizona-based team were awarded the top pick for next month's National Basketball Association draft in NY. "I think we have really talented young players and I think with this draft pick, it sets us up for sustainable success". "Now we just gotta sit and see who we want". The leader at the moment is DeAndre Ayton, a center from Arizona who is a mountain of a man with impressive athleticism and a working jump shot. Kokoskov coached global prospect and consensus top three pick, Luka Doncic, overseas and could try to reunite in the desert. Phoenix hired European coach Igor Kokoskov to be the team's new head coach earlier this month. "We're going to do our job and obviously, I'm glad that we played the last two years to develop guys and try to win games". "I've watched highlights of the other kid". I didn't even know if I would get drafted, to be honest with you, even though I had a college career that was a lot different than most players.

The Orlando Magic will pick sixth, followed by the Chicago Bulls seventh and Cleveland Cavaliers eighth. The last time they had the 3 overall pick, they selected the great Al Horford, who has finally been getting the credit he deserves for being an incredible talent on both ends of the floor now that he's leading a depleted Celtic roster on an impressive playoff run. The Denver Nuggets round out the lottery at No. 14.

This will be the previous year the draft is held under the current framework, with the team with the worst record having a 25 percent chance of winning the lottery, and the odds going down from there - as well as the top three spots being determined by the drawing of ping-pong balls. The team with the worst record will receive no worse than the fifth pick; under the current system, the team with the worst record receives no worse than the fourth pick.
