Six weeks provisional bail granted to Lalu for medical treatment

Former state minister Tej Pratap got engaged to Bihar's former Chief Minister Daroga Prasad Rai's granddaughter Aishwarya Rai in a grand ceremony at a 5-star hotel in Patna on 18 April.

Tej Pratap Yadav will tie the knot with Aishwarya Rai, the daughter of six-time Rashtriya Janata Dal lawmaker Chandrika Rai and a cabinet colleague of Lalu Yadav in many governments.

"We are looking forward to see our leader without whom the wedding of Tej Pratap Yadav would not be the same as it would be in his presence", said party leader Ram Chandra Purvey.

Moreover, Lalu Prasad, who is serving jail sentence after being convicted in multiple fodder scam cases, was granted a five-day parole on May 9 in order to let him attend his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav's wedding. He has been granted parole for three days, Inspector General of Prison Harsh Mangla told PTI.

News of a provisional bail for Lalu and dismissal of another case against Tejashwi in the Jharkhand High Court lifted the family's spirits.

Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan, who was also present on the occasion, was also heartily welcomed by Mr Prasad and his wife and former chief minister Rabri Devi. "Slogans of Lalu Yadav Zindabad" resonated in the complex as soon as the supporters learned that the RJD supremo has been granted parole and that he would be coming to Patna. This is the first time that the two Bihar leaders have been seen together on a stage after Nitish Kumar made a decision to snap ties with RJD in Bihar.

The hosts have invited 50,000 guests to the wedding ceremony at the sprawling veterinary college ground in Patna. Governor Satyapal Malik also congratulated Lalu family.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and some notable BJP leaders from Bihar were also expected to arrive, Bhola Yadav said.
