Destiny 2 Forsaken DLC's Major New Mode Gambit Revealed

Destiny 2 Forsaken DLC's Major New Mode Gambit Revealed

"This entirely new way to play 'Destiny 2' offers something for all types of gamers to enjoy, appealing to those who thrive on the competitive challenge of PvP gameplay, while seamlessly blending the collaborative and unpredictable elements of PvE".

Destiny 2's big new expansion should also considerably shake-up the current state of the game with a host of changes.

This fall, Bungie will release its Year Two expansion, a bigger update that will hopefully rekindle interest in the sci-fi fantasy loot shooter.

If all that's not enough, there are new Supers headed to Destiny 2 with Forsaken. New rules around weapons, armor, and character classes. Forsaken also brings a new weapon slot system, "Random Rolls", improvements to the mods system, and numerous other quality-of-life improvements. Bows are also in, and each class seems to be getting significant reworks - "anime" style Void Warlock teleports were highlighted as the standout adjustment. It takes two teams of players and tasks them with fending off waves of enemies on separate maps, but your own team's progress can impact the other team, and at certain points, a member of the opposing team can invade and try to ruin your chances. Forsaken also has a new Raid, the Dreaming City, which is the home city for the Awoken race.

This will add more grind to the game as the most hardcore players chase the best stats and drops, which is something that many of those players have wanted.

"Today, we're excited to announce that we've entered into a new partnership with NetEase to help us explore new directions", said Bungie in the blog post.

"We have created more questions than we have answered - by design", says David "DeeJ" Dague, the developer's community manager. The also cryptically talk about The Dreaming City and the secrets it hold, calling it massive, mysterious, and unlike anything they have ever done before. Of course, it will come with all-new gear to fill out those collections as well.

The Forsaken expansion, which will kick off Year 2 on September 4, will take place on The Reef, as previously rumored, and will feature a "Western revenge vibe" built around a major breakout from the Prison of Elders.
