Is this the Blackberry Key2?

Blackberry KEY2 is the next smartphone from the company that we are all set to get later this week. We've now come to now that BlackBerry's NY event on June 7 will not be the only event that BlackBerry will host in order to promote the release of its upcoming smartphone.

UPDATE: In a separate tweet, Evan Blass has confirmed that the BlackBerry KEY2 go on sale for $649 over in the US. Now, a fresh render of the upcoming device has surfaced online just ahead of its official launch. The QWERTY keyboard of the BlackBerry KEY2 is likely to support gestures.

From the images, we can see that the handset will feature a square-ish screen design as opposed to the elongated screens that are prevalent on smartphones in the market everywhere. The KEY2 is expected to feature a 4.5-inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla 3 protection. Additionally, a fingerprint sensor is embedded on its spacebar key. The BlackBerry KEY2 will thus be the centre of attraction at the Damai Center in Beijing, China on June 8 as has been revealed through a post on Weibo.

That includes a 4.5-inch 1080p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, 6GB of RAM, and either 64GB or 128GB of built-in storage. Further, the dual rear camera setup is found to have two 12-megapixel sensors - one of which has an f/1.8 aperture, 79.3-degree lens, while the other one sports an f/2.6 aperture, 50-degree lens.

Leaked images of the phone show it with a subdued gray and black appearance with perhaps a slightly more spacious keyboard layout. The 3.5mm headphone jack is present on top, and it is good to see it there on the phone.

With the official launch date a few days away, more information and not to mention the pricing of the KEY2 will be known soon enough.
