Paul George indicates he feels obligation to Thunder

George is coming off of a great season for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Paul George reportedly informed the team he will opt out of his $20.7 million player option for the 2018-19 season Thursday, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Sports Illustrated's Robin Lundberg published a leaked copy of the Lakers' pitch to All-Star forward George on Monday afternoon, which is part of the team's bid to sign him during the upcoming free agency period.

Many have assumed for years that Paul George is destined to end up with the Los Angeles Lakers, and that could very well come to fruition this summer. He could also sign a "one-plus one" contract and return to free agency next summer.

Wojnarowski added that George is still "seriously interested" in returning to OKC in addition to giving "serious consideration" to signing with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers are the favorite to land LeBron in free agency and are probably the favorite to trade for Kawhi.

The final part, which has no announced air date as of now, will recap George's final decision when it eventually happens. In this picture, George attends the 67th NBA All-Star Game: Team LeBron Vs. Team Stephen at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, on February 18, 2018.

And Russell Westbrook has been in regular contact with George in an attempt to convince the five-time All-Star to stay.

A year ago, George was locked in on heading to L.A. Now, that is very much in doubt. In Game 6 of the first-round playoff series against Utah that ended Oklahoma City's season, he played fewer minutes than backup Jerami Grant.

"It's a lot of things that go into it - trying to find the right fit, what's the best place for me to raise my kids", George said. "I mean, honestly, I can't say it any more than that".
