Salah shrugs off injury to join training

The 25-year-old Salah has not played since injuring his left shoulder in Liverpool's Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid last month.

"I promise you that I will do my best to be ready for the World Cup and to fulfill the Egyptian dream".

In a recent interview, Egypt's managing director Ehab Lehita said that no confirmation was available about Salah's status for the first game.

Salah, who sustained the injury in Liverpool's Champions League final loss to Real Madrid on May 26, is crucial to Egypt's hopes of making it out of a weak-looking Group A also featuring hosts Russian Federation and Saudi Arabia.

Salah had a sensational season under Jurgen Klopp this year, with the Egypt global netting 44 goals in all competitions.

Egypt coach Hector Cuper is "optimistic" that Mohamed Salah will play against Uruguay in their Group A opener on Friday.

"I hope to play the first game against Uruguay, but that will depend on how I feel when it approaches", he explained.

The PFA, FWA and Premier League Player of the Year scored 32 goals in his second stint back in the Premier League, three more than Drogba's best tally of 29 in Chelsea's 2009/10 title-winning season under Carlo Ancelotti.

Jose Mourinho has warned Russia's players to be wary of the threat of "one of the fastest players in the world" Mohamed Salah.

"We want him to be involved because he worked so hard to get this team, with his team mates of course, to come to this tournament".

The World Cup continues when Egypt takes on Uruguay in the World Cup group stage.

Doubts persist over Salah's fitness but the Egyptian star said from the team's base in Grozny on Monday that he was "well-prepared" for the tournament.

"We've been preparing for a long time and are focused".

"I don't know about his recovery as it was in the United Kingdom".
