Capitol Police arrested 575 people at the protest in the Senate building, and charged them with unlawfully demonstrating.

Among those arrested in the senate building were Pramila Jayapal, a Democratic member of Congress representing Seattle.

The protest was organized and promoted by Women's March, the same group that mounted a massive protest effort previous year shortly after President Donald Trump took office. Gillibrand said, adding the protests were an "amazing" act of defiance against the Trump administration.

Participants were organized by the far-left Women's March, whose radical leaders are active proponents of open borders.

She added that she was proud to have been arrested among hundreds of others who believed that "the United States is better and as a member of Congress I refuse to let this president and administration do what they are doing to children in my name".

Congressmember Pramila Jayapal was arrested Thursday at a demonstration in Washington D.C., protesting the Trump administration's controversial immigration policies.

Demonstrators in opposition to the immigration policies of the Trump administration rally at the Hart Senate office building.

"People across my state of NY, all across the country are furious with this administration's policy to separate children from their parents", Sen.

Hundreds of children remain separated from their parents in shelters throughout the US. Elizabeth Warren of MA joined in solidarity with the protesters.

You can find more information about the rally on the event's website.
