Demand LeBron James in 'good dialogue' with Cavaliers

Following the draft, Cavs general manager Koby Altman noted that the team was not going to move a player in Sexton who gave a half-hearted appeal for LeBron James to return to Cleveland. It's also worth noting that Hill is slated to make $19 million next year. He's confident, a proven scorer and he addresses a major need for the Cavs, who traded All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving to Boston previous year and spent all season trying to replace him. That struggle was epitomized during the NBA Finals, in which Cleveland was swept by Golden State, with J.R. Smith's blunder at the end of regulation in Game 1 coming to symbolize James as Atlas struggling to hold up the sky.

I'm going to make it crystal clear what the Cleveland Cavaliers should do with the #8 pick in Thursday night's draft.

James has until June 29 to take the player option for the 2018-19 season.

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio - The Cleveland Cavaliers selected Alabama guard Collin Sexton with the No. 8 pick in the National Basketball Association draft on Thursday, and just minutes after hearing his name announced, Sexton addressed LeBron James' uncertain future.

The Cavs could attempt to draft Young tonight if he is available at the eighth spot as a selling pitch to James.

Sexton was the first Alabama freshman in the modern era to record three straight games of more than 20 points in each of his first three contests. Almost two weeks before James announced that he would take his talents to South Beach during "The Decision" in 2010, Smith reported that he would team up with Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade on the Miami Heat.

The odds favor finding good players the higher you draft.

"We continue to have good dialogue with his management team", Altman told ESPN at the NBA Draft. "When I called him...he wanted to run here...that's meaningful to us". He'd likely have to opt-in to the final year of his contract, and the Cleveland Cavaliers would have to agree to trade him to Houston.

"For the Cavs it depends on where Porter goes", Schmitz explained to Cleveland.com. Perhaps this player offers new options on the trade market, or perhaps this player is actually good enough to contribute, even though Ty Lue doesn't like playing rookies. Then again, maybe they do in fact want to keep him, much like they have over the last four years. "It's go time when you get on the court".

Not counting James, Pluto says there are just two players on the current Cavs' roster that the team drafted: Cedi Osman and Tristan Thompson.

Now comes this report from Bleacher Report's Ken Berger noting that the Cavaliers are still in on Walker despite selecting Sexton Thursday night.
