'Hollywood Hoops' on LeBron James, Lonzo Ball, Lakers, NBA free agency

'Hollywood Hoops' on LeBron James, Lonzo Ball, Lakers, NBA free agency

While James has yet to meet with his new coach, he has previously spoken about his respect for Walton in a post-game interview last season. Ball had a respectable rookie season for the Lakers when healthy, but with LeBron James in Los Angeles and in need of another star, Ball's future there is as precarious as ever.

LeBron James has chose to take his considerable talents to the West Coast and ply his trade as a LA Laker after signing a four-year, $154 million deal. LeBron James and the Lakers agreed to a 4-year deal worth 154M. The same can be said about McGee, Caldwell-Pope and Stephenson's respective contracts but it does seem as though the Lakers paid a premium on players that other teams weren't bending over backward to sign.

At the very least, it should be an entertaining season in L.A. However, George considered it a better option than the Lakers.

After LeBron James announced he was joining the Lakers, it was only a matter of time - like nanoseconds - before LaVar Ball, who had been predicting the move for months, weighed in on it. That, of course, could change rapidly with San Antonio dangling Kawhi Leonard but that could also necessitate that one or more of LA's talented youngsters gets shipped in the deal, which would still make the Lakers more formidable with Leonard in the mix.

Let's be clear: coming to terms with LeBron James when he is still performing at historic levels, even without having to lure him in by first adding another star player, is a major coup for the Lakers.

However, the two-time reigning NBA Finals MVP reportedly privately suggested the prospect was not as alluring as some might think. "The people we choose to come here are going to know that, too".

Golden State Warriors are the top team in the 2017-18 Pacific standings.

But more than perhaps any other working athlete in recent memory, James made that move years ago. The bad blood between James and Stephenson started during the Eastern Conference finals matchup between the Miami Heat and the Indiana Pacers in 2014.

However, there is no guarantee any of them will join LeBron in the City of Angels next year.

The Lakers will be Rondo's fifth team in the last five seasons after spending the first eight-plus seasons with the Boston Celtics, which included a title in 2008 and being a four-time All-Star from 2010-13.

The best player of his generation might no longer be the best recruiter in the league.
