Dana White: Conor McGregor will not be punished for bus attack

McGregor, speaking with TMZ, revealed a deal for his comeback fight was near to completion nearly two years since his last appearance in the octagon.

Of course, McGregor just had to finish out a plea agreement in NY after he went on an all-out assault on a bus back in April in an attempt to get to Nurmagomedov after he was involved in an altercation with Nurmagomedov's teammate Artem Lobov ahead of UFC 223.

That led to charges for McGregor, who escaped a jail term and criminal record after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct, paving the way for the bout against Nurmagomedov. As expected, Dana White hosted the UFC 25th Anniversary Press Conference, and he was joined on stage by a litany of MMA fighters, including Tyron Woodley, Darren Till, Nicco Montano, Valentina Shevchenko, Derek Brunson, and Israel Adesanya. The undefeated Russian won the vacant UFC lightweight title against Al Iaquinta at UFC 223 after then-lightweight champion Tony Ferguson pulled out of a scheduled bout with Nurmagomedov due to an injury suffered days before the event.

Rumors of a couple of different dates have been circulating for the would-be fight between Conor McGregor and his rival, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The announcement at Orpheum Theater in downtown Los Angeles - made via a pre-produced video that included footage of the Barclays Center incident - was made at a UFC seasonal news conference to reveal fight cards running through the end of the year.

"It's time to roll", Diaz said following his own two-year absence. Mayweather vs. McGregor was an event first and foremost, and whether or not a competitive fight ever came out of it was never really the point.

McGregor and Nurmagomedov will meet in the main event of the UFC 229 pay-per-view show at T-Mobile Arena, the same spot where Mayweather stopped McGregor in the 10th round of their one-sided fight. When asked by ESPN about Diaz's tweet, UFC White said: "I have no idea (what that means)".
