President Donald Trump rips LeBron James in late-night tweet

President Donald Trump rips LeBron James in late-night tweet

And he's rejecting the premise like an opponent's ill-advised layup.

"Sports has never been something that divides people", James told CNN's Don Lemon.

Incidentally, prior to his criticism of James, Trump retweeted a quote from Pastor Darrell Scott calling Trump "the most pro-black president that we've had in our lifetime".

"This is a late night tweet from the PRESIDENT", Smith said.

That last line presumably refers to Michael Jordan and the neverending debate about whether Jordan or James is the best player in National Basketball Association history.

He suggested that since James no longer resides or represents a swing state in OH and has moved to the state of California which is essentially a lost cause, Trump can say what he feels. It was touchy... that was near the end of the season, we were tops in the East I think they were tops in the West, it's just playoff intensity. Yahoo News White House correspondent Hunter Walker points out that before James started criticizing Trump, Trump used to be a fan.

"For me, everything where I grew up was on top of the refrigerator", he explained.

Trump is under fire for insulting LeBron's intelligence, just days after James opened a school for underprivileged children.

The I Promise School initially will house 240 third- and fourth-graders.

James is coming off an eventful week where he opened up a school in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.

Before entering politics, Trump frequently praised James and his own family tried to recruit him to the New York Knicks in 2010. "And when they walk through that door, I hope they know that someone cares".

"Well, in that case, I may", he said. "I believe there's someone else out there".

James' main focus is helping the next generation conquer their obstacles - with inspiration from the past.

"But shortly after that they went on to win the championship and we fell to Boston in the Eastern Conference Championship, and they went on to beat Boston".
