Transfer: Chelsea finally sign Real Madrid midfielder

Luka Modric, the Golden Ball victor at the World Cup, is the only player yet to return to training after the World Cup.

However, the 32-year-old performances were enough to earn him the World Cup's Golden Ball for most outstanding performer, and left a host of admirers in his wake.

The Croatian has struggled to break into the Real Madrid side since he joined from Inter Milan, but has impressed on the few occasions that he has played.

The Croatian midfielder returns from his post-World Cup holidays after helping his country to the final - where they lost to France in Moscow.

They have not made any contact with Juve or submitted any bid they have just identified him, as a target.

Kovacic has been very vocal in his desire to leave the club this summer as he goes in search of regular playing time.

However, Real Madrid have been unwilling to sell and have attempted to convince the midfielder to remain at the club under new manager, Julen Lopetegui.

The rumour states that Real Madrid have only identified Pjanic as a replacement for Modric if he departs from the Bernabeu.

The Nerazzurri would like to sign the World Cup runner-up on a loan deal worth €15 million with an option to buy for €30 million, but before making any moves officially they must wait for the outcome of today's meeting between Modric and Perez.

It appears as if everything is doom and gloom at Real Madrid this summer.

It is also reported by the Spanish newspaper that the agreement would see Modric spent two years in China with Jiangsu Suning - who share the same owners as Inter - to see him paid €60m (£53.5m) in total over the next six years of his career. Have your say by leaving a comment below.
