Los Angeles Dodgers fans boo Dave Roberts before World Series Game 5

After his Boston Red Sox defeated the Dodgers 5-1 in Game 5 to clinch the title, Cora said the next thing he hoped to do was take the trophy to his home island.

The Red Sox's first order of business Sunday following their World Series victory? The lefty slugger went 4-for-5 with a home run, the first White Sox player with a four-hit game within his first three career Major League Baseball games since Jim Busby on May 4, 1950. Solo homers by Mookie Betts in the sixth inning and J.D. Martinez in the seventh quieted the Los Angeles crowd.

Pearce struck again in the eighth with another homer before pitcher Chris Sale closed off the game in the following inning. Only the Yankees (27) and Cardinals (11) have been more successful, and Boston is now tied for third with the Athletics. They won the seven game series in game five against the LA Dodgers on Sunday, October 28, with a final score of 5-1.

"When you say that it's nearly overwhelming", Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said.

"For me, it's noise, and I really haven't paid much attention to it", Roberts said earlier Sunday of the criticism he has faced in recent days. "The focus, in my opinion, of the president is to be on the country, and not on moves that are made in a World Series game".

After defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers, 5-1, in Game 5, the Red Sox blared Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York" inside their clubhouse, prompting a singalong among players as the champagne showers commenced.

"For us to be able to turn that double play, it was huge", Price said. Price set down 14 straight at one point and allowed just three hits while working into the eighth inning, condemning Los Angeles to suffer a second straight runner-up finish in its home park.

A post-season that started with questions about his future in Boston ended with lefty David Price leading the way to a World Series trophy. He went seven innings in Game 5, yielding only one run and three hits.

For Boston, starter David Price was brilliant. Plagued at times by an aching back, the 30-year-old lefty no longer is the dominant pitcher who won three Cy Young Awards, his famous 12-to-6 breaking ball now more 10 to 4:30.

Chris Sale said he didn't like hearing the news that he wasn't going to start Game 5. The Red Sox join NY among four franchises to win at least nine Fall Classics since the event's 1903 inception.

David Price got emotional during a postgame press conference after the Red Sox won the World Series.

That all came after he started Game 2 and pitched in relief in Game 3.

Alex Cora should take Rafael Devers out for all the ice cream he can eat.

"All year when it didn't look so good, our guys stuck together, stayed the course and believed in one another and put ourselves in a chance to win a championship", Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.

Joe Kelly turned into Cora's most trusted reliever in the World Series.

This isn't the first time the Red Sox have taken a not-so-subtle dig at the Bombers in the postseason.
