Trump Says New UN Ambassador To Be Chosen ‘Very Quickly’

Haley, who announced her conscious uncoupling from the Trump administration last week, was the keynote speaker at the high profile fundraiser in honor of the former governor of NY.

"In Syria, where the dictator uses chemicals weapons to murder innocent children, that is evil", the former Republican governor of SC said, adding, "In North Korea, where American student Otto Warmbier was tortured to death, that was evil".

Setting up her speech, she said many people called to advise her on what she should say. Do not under any circumstances make any jokes about the president.

'Actually the president called me this morning and gave me some really good advice.

Trump "said if I get stuck for laughs, just brag about his accomplishments", she continued. "It really killed at the United Nations, I got to tell you".

'So I really am super excited to be at the Al Smith Dinner, ' Haley, the keynote speaker at the event, remarked.

He said three of the candidates were women. "Apparently, no one here could have predicted that".

Nikki Haley, who now holds the job, said earlier this month that she would be stepping down at the end of the year. But, she also knows that there are lots and lots of Republicans who are already done with Trump and, if they aren't right now, likely will be by 2020 and certainly by 2024.

She then joked about the president, saying, "Actually, when the president found out that I was Indian-American, he asked me if I was from the same tribe as Elizabeth Warren".

The ambassador poked fun a Trump's response to the recent Bob Woodward book.

While Haley appeared to bring the house down, both NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo were met by boos when introduced to the guests.

"Mayor remember, as a member of the United Nations delegation I do have diplomatic immunity".

"You're familiar with diplomatic immunity", she told de Blasio.

On Monday, Warren released a DNA test that claimed to find "strong evidence" of a distant Native American ancestor some six to 10 generations back.

It was the first major appearance Haley has made since she announced her impending resignation last week. "I'm definitely getting my vehicle towed tonight".
