KC also sacked Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen (21 of 37, 204 yards, 1TD, 2 INT) five times.

Johnson had easily his best game of the season, totaling 183 yards. Running back Spencer Ware has 14 catches for 165 yards. With the defensive line stepping up in turn, Kansas City's defense looks like it might be turning a corner and it couldn't be happening at a better time. He's got a lot on his plate as far as responsibility goes to run the offense and he takes care of that.

Johnson's resurgence seems to have come with the promotion of Leftwich to offensive coordinator.

"I don't think it will", Reid said. "I thought (offensive coordinator) Byron (Leftwich) did a tremendous job of really calling the game, getting into a flow and rhythm of the game".

We've said here before in this space that the Chiefs are a consistent pass rush away from being a Super Bowl team.

"I was still on four phases of special teams", Niemann said, "so I got a little exhausted out there".

Johnson has topped 100 yards from scrimmage in each of the past two games after failing to do so in the first seven of the season. So we're trying to turn this around and we are trying to get this thing in the right direction because we have goals. Nearly 30 minutes of possession time, so I mean, we're on the field. We came into this game talking about trying to steal some possessions and trying to keep those guys off the field. "Where we came up short was the consistency after that, not being able to get back into the end zone".

Arizona answered with a time-consuming 75-yard touchdown drive of its own. He needs to build on his performance against Arizona, even if it means sacrificing a triple digits in yardage, to continue developing into a complete back who's utility goes beyond being a ball-carrier.

The Rams are second in yards-per-game and the Chiefs are third, and those rankings are flipped when it comes to scoring with Kansas City second and Los Angeles third.

Though despite the efforts of Hunt, Hill and Mahomes, the Cardinals still managed to stay within striking distance until linebacker Justin Houston - playing in his first game in over a month - recorded his first interception since the 2015 season deep in Arizona territory early in the fourth quarter. The problem was, the secondary couldn't find a way to cover or contain speedster wide receiver Tyreek Hill and he made them pay for it. Hill averaged 16.7 yards per catch and scored twice, easily finding separation from Cardinals defenders. Jones has at least one sack in each of the past six games.
