Nintendo Switch Has Its Best-Selling Period During Thanksgiving Weekend

While the Switch is showing momentum and had a very strong kickoff to the 2018 holiday season, it still has a long way to go before it catches up with the Wii's overall sales.

Nintendo Switch games Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! have hit combined USA sales of more than 1.5 million units since their November 16 launch.

Nintendo Switch hardware sales grew 115 percent compared to the same period in 2017.

It surpassed the Wii sales with a +117% change as compared to a year ago. The 3DS has now sold 22 million units in North America, the NES Classic has sold 2 million, and the SNES Classic has sold 2.5 million. "[This demonstrates] that Nintendo has something for everyone this holiday season".


One of the other random pieces of this sale is the Linksys Velop mesh networking system. At present, Japanese fans can spend their Platinum Points on festive, 8-bit Mario Pochi bags, a set of B2 Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild posters, some B2 Super Mario Odyssey posters, and even a seven day trial of Nintendo Switch Online.

"Overall, total USA hardware sales for Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday increased 45 percent over the same period in 2017", explained the console maker.

It was also revealed launch week sales for the Pokemon: Let's Go games hit 1.5 million units combined.

And the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition system surpassed lifetime sales of 2 million.
