Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospitalized With 3 Fractured Ribs

The nation was left shaken on Thursday after it was revealed Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was hospitalized from a fall at the office that left her with three fractured ribs.

She reportedly went home but after experiencing discomfort, went to George Washington University Hospital early Thursday morning. In 2012, Ginsburg fractured two ribs.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg fell in her office at the Court last evening.

In 2014, she underwent a heart procedure to have a stent placed in her right coronary artery, CNN reported, and in 2009, she was treated for pancreatic cancer. She is the second female justice of four to be confirmed to the Court.

President Barack Obama greets Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She called court police to take her there before dawn.

WebMD says the typical recovery time for broken ribs is about six weeks.

According to the Associated Press, she has had a history of health problems that she has overcome in recent years.

"We're praying for her, and we know how tough she is", Conway said.

Since Ginsburg has held her position for more than 25 years and is the court's oldest member, the justice has often disputed the speculation over her retirement. Over the summer, she admitted that she planned to serve on the Supreme Court for at least five more years.

The court said that more information would be provided as it became available. "Control of the Senate is something that is very important for him... and, of course, some appointments are not controversial by any means and are overwhelmingly approved". But if Ginsburg's history tells us anything, her injuries won't keep her away from work for long.
