Hogan was let go in 2015 after a tape was released showing him making a racist remark but WWE brought him back recently after the WWE Hall of Famer repeatedly apologised for the incident. At least WWE fans have one positive thing to look forward to: Brock Lesnar being Universal Champion again, after defeating Braun Strowman easily in about two minutes. The WWE Championship went to A.J. Styles after a riveting stand-off with Samoa Joe. After winning the Universal title in April 2017, the former UFC heavyweight champion held onto to it until August 2018. The match was shifted to a singles match between Lesnar and Braun Strowman with the Beast regaining the title in convincing fashion in what was a fairly surprising result.

Seth Rollins defeated Bobby Lashley - This was another match plagued by injuries as Lashley struggled to keep up with Rollins" pace and the "Kingslayer' was quick to hit his finisher to Lashley to qualify for the next round.

The Miz battled Ziggler in the final and the A-Lister injured his knee in the final and was unable to compete.

Crown Jewel will also feature a World Cup Tournament, which will feature four wrestlers from Raw and four from SmackDown Live.

A Tag Team championship match between The Bar (Sheamus, Cesaro and Big Show) and The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods) ended with The Bar retaining their title. He and his D-Generation X partner, Triple H, faced off against the Brothers of Destruction, Kane and The Undertaker, for the first time in WWE history.
