We got our first taste of Mortal Kombat 11 gameplay as footage teasing the game's new characters, fatalities and story was revealed at a live event Thursday. That's always been Mortal Kombat's shtick, of course, and the game's cheesy tone means it's impossible to take entirely seriously, but even so - this is pushing the envelope of nastiness.

The stream will be hosted on NetherRealm's official Twitch channel, which you can find down below.

Unsurprisingly it's the most visually impressive Mortal Kombat we've ever seen, but it's clear that Netherealm Studio is pushing the current-gen consoles to their limit.

At over 25 years old, the Mortal Kombat franchise has been building its lore for long enough. Kronica is the first female boss character in the series and Geras, who has sand powers, is her servant. On display in the presentation were the returning Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Raiden, and Sonya Blade.

After many a leak, Mortal Kombat 11 for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch was announced at The Game Awards 2018.

We know that for Shao Kahn, Raiden and Scorpion will be in the game, but tonight's event is due to show off a lot more about the game.
