Anthony Davis' dad doesn't want him on Celtics: 'There's no loyalty'

"I guess you can say that but I don't have any control". Davis' preferred destination is in Los Angeles, teaming up with James. Irving and Davis, however, are friends and communicate regularly.

Now, there are two paths that Irving can take. So this could all be an attempt to make the trade seem less palatable for the Celtics and open things up for the Lakers. He backed that up with a Nike commercial shot at TD Garden in which he said he wanted to have his number in the rafters. "I mean, I can't control what happens, so just have to go out there and focus on today".

If Irving were traded, it wouldn't be the first time in his career. Gordon Hayward's recovery from a broken ankle has been more sluggish than expected. Danny Ainge doesn't sound too concerned about the issue. Financially, it would be an incredibly tight fit and would the Lakers to only roster the trio of James, Davis and Irving while filling out the rest of the roster with minimum contracts with a couple of exceptions available as well. The most recent notable name to be connected to the team is Anthony Davis, who has requested a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans and essentially has a marble path caved out all the way to Los Angeles for him.

His response? "Ask me July 1".

Davis Sr. clarified that those opinions were his, and did not reflect how his son felt about the Celtics.

On Monday, reports began surfacing that Kyrie Irving's situation in Boston wasn't a great as originally assumed. It's a chicken-and-egg scenario.

Talk of adding Irving to the mix is where this all gets tangled.

Davis will not sign an extension with New Orleans and wants to be traded, agent Rich Paul told ESPN. Irving's future in Boston is in question after comments made earlier on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors were riding a season-high 11-game win streak before getting stopped the 76ers in a 113-104 home loss on Thursday. Despite the record, they are starting to look like the potent contender they were predicted to be at the start of the season.

Chances are if the Celtics acquire Davis, Irving will sign long-term.
