Injured Liverpool defender Gomez to undergo surgery to assist recovery

Liverpool are fearing yet another injury setback in defence, with Jurgen Klopp admitting that Joe Gomez will "probably" require surgery.

After narrowly scraping through to the knockout stages of the Champions League, Liverpool have been handed the daunting task of fending off Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich for any hope of emulating their Finals appearance in Kiev past year, with the first leg set to be held at Anfield on Tuesday 19th February. We have a very hard game yet listening to some people it seems we are already through because "It's only Bayern Munich".

"Have you ever looked at the team they have or how they are in shape now?"

The Merseysiders faded away in the final few games of the 2013-14 season after being made strong favourites to lift their first Premier League title, though, and Neville has questioned whether they can hold their nerve five years on.

"We then went out of the FA Cup in the quarter-final against Wigan". Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez remain on the sidelines through injury and it was confirmed on Sunday that Dejan Lovren will miss out with a recurrence of a hamstring problem.

Statistically speaking, Liverpool have produced their best start to a top-flight season in their history.

Despite their stuttering run, the Hammers are seven points off seventh spot in the league, and a potential European spot, ahead of Monday's meeting with the Premier League leaders, having already won seven points against Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal so far this term.

"I don't know [if he needs surgery]".

"The manager will give us the information on how we need to play - and the right information to try to win the game". It was an very bad result against Wimbledon and then again against Wolves. Then I think when we do that, we bring that onto the pitch, then I am sure we are going to win a lot of games. Come back in May and we play another one. We will see exactly how we do it.
