Korean War could be declared over at Hanoi summit: Seoul

At the end of January, Trump's own intelligence leaders contradicted his rosy portrayal of North Korea and Kim.

Therefore, leaders of Vietnam and Hanoi have defined the hosting of the summit as an unscheduled but very important task in implementing the country's foreign policy, the deputy minister said, noting that Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has paid due attention to the preparation work. Kindergarteners dressed in traditional Korean Hanbok were practicing songs meant to welcome Kim.

His route will take him across North Korea's northern border, around the Bohai Sea, along China's eastern coastline and into Vietnam on its northernmost edge. "Chairman Kim will make a wise decision!"

On Sunday morning, the president again spoke positively of North Korea and his upcoming summit with Kim.

Kim is expected to arrive on Monday or Tuesday for a state visit before the summit with Trump on Wednesday and Thursday.

Both truly absurd & despicable that #Vietnam is harassing & threatening comedian/impersonator of Kim Jong-Un who has shown up with valid visa in #Hanoi. The Vietnamese immigration officials told Howard X that his visa was "invalid".

Vietnam is also busy in preparing for Trump-Kim summit.

The Communist Party's mouthpiece Nhan Dan newspaper quoted the Roads Department as saying the ban will affect the 105-mile stretch of Highway One from Dong Dang, on the border with China, to Hanoi.

His train is expected to stop at the Vietnamese border station of Dong Dang, where he will disembark and travel the 170km to Hanoi by vehicle, sources said earlier. Kim may get off his train in Dong Dang and finish his journey to Hanoi by auto.

Vietnam's Hanoi hosts the second summit between North Korea and the United States on February 27-28.

"His comments contrast with his headline goal of securing North Korea's denuclearisation, when the two leaders held their first summit in Singapore last June".

Some media speculated about Kim Jong Un traveling to Beijing for a meeting with his ally, Chinese President Xi Jinping, before continuing towards Vietnam. "After Singapore, the president tweeted this: 'There is no longer a nuclear threat from North Korea.' And he talks repeatedly about the strength of his relationship with Kim", the host pointed out, before playing a clip of Trump bragging about his relationship with the North Korean leader.

Asked by a reporter if he was "walking back" on denuclearisation demands, Trump said, "No".

Mr Trump said on Twitter he expected a "continuation of the progress made at the first summit in Singapore".

According to the United States president, Kim Jong Un "realizes, perhaps better than anyone else, that without nuclear weapons, his country could fast become one of the great economic powers anywhere in the World".

While his top diplomat Mike Pompeo tempered expectations about what could be achieved in Hà Nội, Trump said North Korea could become one of the world's "great economic powers" if it relinquished its nuclear arsenal.

Kim has demanded "corresponding measures" from the US side and analysts doubt he will accept anything less than at least some easing of sanctions in return for the destruction of Yongbyon or other facilities.
