Leicester appoints Brendan Rodgers as manager

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard would not be surprised to see Brendan Rodgers return to the Premier League after the Celtic boss entered talks with Leicester City.

Rodgers told Celtic's club website: "It has been a real honour to serve the club and its supporters across the past three seasons".

If he does move to Leicester, he will leave Celtic on course for a domestic Treble - a feat it has achieved in each of the previous two seasons.

The simple truth is this Leicester team were lacking direction and motivation under Claude Puel, who was sacked on Sunday, and this performance only underlines how a squad with such ability was being held back. I haven't got much to time to adjust, but we need to adapt very quickly.

The Swans won widespread plaudits for an impressive first season under Rodgers in the Premier League in 2011/12, where their stylish displays helped them to an 11th-placed finish.

"He's got a presentation for them to show them what he expects on and off the pitch so I look forward to seeing that as well", Mike Stowell, who took charge of Leicester for the game, said of Rodgers. I will be doing all I can to continue the great work that has gone on in recent years.

Towards the end of Hibs" first season back in the top flight, Lennon said in May 2018: "We look like we are going to finish fourth, which is unacceptable for me.

Unveiled for the third time at Celtic on Wednesday morning, following successful spells as first a player and then manager, the Northern Irishman has been tasked with ensuring Brendan Rodgers' departure doesn't knock the Scottish champions off their all-conquering stride.

"We know he's coached a lot of young players and we hope he can bring them on - we're all excited".

Form wise, Celtic have been excellent in 2019 and have won all nine domestic matches and conceded just one goal in the process. I don't have all the answers, and I don't want to be compared to Brendan.
