Philadelphia 76ers Acquire Tobias Harris In Trade With LA Clippers

The Sixers pick up another star in Tobias Harris. Averaging almost 20 points and eight rebounds per game, he's now one of the Sixers best forwards alongside the Big 3 of Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Jimmy Butler, a situation he's clearly excited about.

Rather, the LA Clippers have sent star forward Tobias Harris to the Philadelphia 76ers for Wilson Chandler, Mike Muscala, Landry Shamet and two first-round picks, per The Athletic's Shams Charania.

This is a trade that will have huge ramifications around the league, both this season and moving forward. Harris, 26, leads the Clippers in scoring at 20.9 points per game and rebounding at 7.9 boards per game. They now have one of the most high-powered starting lineups in the NBA, and adding a 43 percent stretch forward to the eighth-ranked 3-point shooting team, according to basketball-reference, only makes them that much more risky.

Yet L.A. has successfully set the franchise as another with the cap room necessary to sign two max-level free agents and have the youth and flexibility to hone their young players into a support role.

They should fall off, though that's probably not a bad thing for them anyway. The Hornets would seemingly be pretty motivated to get a deal done, as adding a veteran big man like Gasol could really go a long way in helping them reach the playoffs in a relatively wide-open Eastern Conference.

Arguably the most valuable asset netted by Los Angeles is the 2021 first-round pick originally owned by the Heat.

The key here is to think of this not from an overall evaluation of the trade in which they gave up a lot, but to see it as the Sixers essentially shooting a gap. Plus Shamet has shown some signs of being a solid rotation player as well.
