Super Bowl LIII at 10-Year Low in Early Numbers

Super Bowl LIII at 10-Year Low in Early Numbers

So why wasn't former SC football star Stephon Gilmore the MVP of Super Bowl LIII on Sunday? The lackluster event drew an overnight rating of 44.9, which was the lowest for any Super Bowl since 2009.

"Super Bowl? What Super Bowl?" the front-page headline read followed by the sports lead, "What do the Rams and the Saints have in common?"

"I don't think they was ready to play", Harvey said of the Rams, who only scored 3 points.

New England Patriots' Sony Michel dives for the only touchdown in the Super Bowl. "If you hold New England to 10 points, you're supposed to be the Super Bowl champ", he said.

The Patriots 13-3 victory over the Rams marked the franchise's sixth total Super Bowl win. But on Sunday, Jared Goff, the 24-year-old Rams quarterback, looked lost. But the Super Bowl's overall ratings this year may have gotten dragged down by places such as New Orleans, home of a Saints team that many feel was robbed of a chance to play the Patriots because of a missed call in the NFC championship game.

The Patriots' Bill Belichick is the oldest Super Bowl-winning coach at age 66.

Gostkowski added gloss with a late field goal as the Patriots ground out a hard-fought win.
