DeSean Jackson Traded to Eagles

Jackson, 32, is in the final year of his contract with the Bucs that will pay him $10-million in 2019.

DeSean Jackson #11 of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers makes a reception during the first quarter against the Washington Redskins at Raymond James Stadium on November 11, 2018 in Tampa, Florida. But that salary is not guaranteed. NFL Network reported the news moments ago. The Bucs are last in cap space, per Over The Cap, so it appears they want to trim that number. They need a deep threat, and that, DeSean has always been.

Jackson got off to a hot start in which he had 17 catches for 424 yards and three touchdowns in the first four games, all started by backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. He had only one game of at least 77 yards receiving and sat out three other games with a thumb injury.

The momentum around a reunion between the Eagles and Jackson had been building during the day Monday, with multiple reports saying Jackson wanted to return to Philadelphia. He led the National Football League by averaging 18.9 yards per catch in 2018 - he burned the Eagles for a 75-yard touchdown on the first play from scrimmage in their September meeting - and he's averaged 17.4 yards per catch in his career.
