Janice Freeman, contestant on 'The Voice,' dies at 33

Former The Voice Season 13 contestant Janice Freeman died Saturday, March 2 in Pasadena, Calif. of a blood clot.

Freeman joined Miley Cyrus' team and made it all way up to the Top 11. News in a statement.

Freeman is survived by her husband, her daughter Hannah, her mother Janice, siblings and extended family. Throughout, Freeman remained bright and hopeful, relying on her strong faith and a sheer will to live as she maintained an active performance schedule.

Freeman's reps said she was home with her husband when she began to have trouble breathing. She was pronounced dead around 5:30 a hospital after a blood clot seemingly traveled to her heart.

Janice Freeman, who once sang on The Voice and quickly became one of Miley Cyrus' favorite stars on the reality music competition show, has died.

In January of 2018, Freeman explained on her Instagram story how Cyrus had covered six months' worth of rent for her. She was 33 years old.

Freeman, who was also a survivor of cervical cancer, has been open in the past about her battle with Lupus, an autoimmune disease which attacks its own tissue, leading to a myriad of symptoms including fatigue, swollen joints, chest pains and more.

Cyrus has not publicly reacted to Freeman's death as of Sunday morning.

Freeman was eliminated after falling into the Bottom Two and not receiving enough Instant Save votes to stay. "You got somebody that got your back". "I will defend you to the very end", she adds, referring to Cyrus as her best friend.

After the news of Freeman's passing broke, Cyrus shared a picture of a rainbow on Instagram, saying "Thank you @janicefreeman ... for everything. And may God rest her too-young soul", MSNBC host Joy Reid tweeted.
