Los Angeles Clippers vs. Los Angeles Lakers Prediction, Preview, and Odds

The Los Angeles Lakers, beset by injuries and slipping further down the West's standings by the day, have accepted their fate.

With that said, and as the Lakers sit 5.5 games back of the 8th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, at what point should the team defer on the year and make the necessary moves to better their future?

The blank expressions and empty cliches were out in full force after LeBron James and Co. lost for the fifth time in six games on Monday, falling to the crosstown Clippers, 113-105. While early in the year the Lakers could write those losses off as "growing pains", those games added up as the season went on and have come back to bite the Lakers hard. Kyle Kuzma would eventually leave the game with an ankle injury, but not before at one point physically pushing LeBron James on defense to close out a Danilo Gallinari three-pointer. Going with a 10-man lineup tonight, the Lakers were only able to produce 27 bench points. Like I said about us being the best team in L.A., a lot of people don't believe me, it's fine.

The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly run out of patience with Luke Walton and look set to fire their head coach at the end of the season.

At the time, Lonzo tweeted (with a smiley emoji), "Lakers ain't even makin the Playoffs".

Barring a miracle, James, who made the Finals in each of the past eight seasons, will miss the postseason for the first time since 2004-05, his second season.

"For me personally, I can [only] speak for myself".

Two weeks, two wins and five losses since James announced he was activating playoff mode, his lack of hustle is being pinpointed by eagle-eyed National Basketball Association viewers. "Continue to be a professional, and be as great as you can be every single night, no matter the circumstances". The Lakers face the Denver Nuggets and the Boston Celtics at home before embarking on a five-game East Coast trip next week. "Someone is always watching".
