Zinedine Zidane Reappointed As Real Madrid Manager Until 2022

Real president Florentino Perez has been in contact - via an official - with Zidane since their Champions League elimination by Ajax last week. You wouldn't blame him for never managing again, especially when he can say that he has won a Champions League in every season in which he has participated in the competition. A contrast which favours Zidane, as despite his domestic troubles, it puts his shortcomings into context considering what the club have suffered since. And to remember that some of us are lucky enough to play for Real Madrid, some of us are lucky enough to form part of its history, but Real Madrid was, is and will always be Real Madrid.

Zidane was confirmed as Madrid's new head coach on a three-year deal on Monday, having spent just 10 months away from the club. It was a decision I had to take. Well, not exactly struggled, but not finished with the results that the club has come to expect.

"It is a great challenge, I know that, but I am really looking forward to it, to returning to coach".

As for Solari, after almost four and a half months in charge, he says goodbye to Madrid with a record of 21 victories, two draws and eight defeats. Who better than the man who last led them to major success to guide them out of their current slump?

Solari has been relieved of his duties despite a 4-1 victory over Real Valladolid on Sunday evening.

Five days after a third victory in last season's Champions League final over Liverpool, the French coach and former Real Madrid midfielder chose to walk away, saying it was the right moment to depart. Zidane, who won the World Cup with France as a player, will take charge of training on Tuesday.

Zidane's first spell in charge of the club included winning the Champions League three times in a row, as well as LaLiga in 2017.

Before the appointment of Zidane, Jose Mourinho was being tipped as the leading candidate for a Santiago Bernabeu return. I had various offers, but did not want to go to any other club.

"That's why I thought that the most honest way to answer the questions that are circulating around us would be to tackle them directly". "I think the players need a change but I should thank them because at the end of the day it's them that fight out there and this is a club of very high expectations".
