Hey there again! This would have to be one of the most exciting things that has happened to my blog (so far), and I’m of course quite keen about this. I was chosen to participate in a ‘Blog Tour’ for the book ‘Alice’ written by K.L. Loveley. I’m getting more into my reading currently, and so you may see even more book reviews here.
First of all, kudos to K.L. Loveley for writing this book, it’s on a bit of a hard topic, one that some readers may find a bit confronting to read.
For me personally, I do find the topic – alcoholism – quite a hard and confronting topic, due to past family members and relationships that have had their own lives being drawn to alcohol. However, the book does thankfully bring a new perspective into alcoholism, such as what the possible causes of ones drinking may be.
This being said, this isn’t the normal book I’d be drawn to in a book store or a library, and whilst it wasn’t a rather pleasant read, I found the story a different change to what I’m used to, and would definitely think that this book is more for a mature audience, one that may not be shy about the discussion of alcoholism.
The book itself is quite slow paced, introducing the main character solely within the first chapter. It’s something you would need to read for a lengthy amount of time, as a quick 20 minute read may have the reader feeling as though they’ve barely read anything, yet it’s been 30 pages talking about the characters entire past, and only 10 minutes of ‘real time’ has happened in the book itself.
All in all, the read is definitely not my favourite, or something I’d go rushing to reread. But, if you are into something that does touch on real life issues and really goes into minute irrelevant detail, this book is 100% for you! I do believe that this book really wasn’t for me, since I’m more into a fast paced read that has a bit more livelihood written into it, but but not all books are for all readers.
Have you read this book? What’s your opinion??
